We stayed over night in an amazing place.
It was a huge house which usually hosted foreigners as you can see while looking at the flag pole.
Early morning we went to Sapanta to visit The Merry Cemetery.
The tomb of a midwife. Basically all the crosses have the poetic sum up of one's life or death.
Ofen they describe their favourite activities,
or their vices
one young girl died in a car accident. The scene is depicted naively, yet with a strong impact. Her lamentation for the life left behind is carved on the cross.
This couple says: look at us holding hands. You will be soon here too. While we were alive we had an empty heart as we did not have children so everything we possessed was given to a stranger.
This one was struck by lightning as you can see:
this one was beheaded by an evil Hungarian:
this man carved most of the crossed in the cemetery
the traditional attire of the place:
I bought a carpet. Wool. Hand woven.
The hand of Ionut, one of my fellow travelers.
