I spent this weekend with my brother and his girlfriend. They are keen hikers and rock climbing and I have repeatedly asked them to let me know when they have safe and unspontaneous plants of trekking.
They suggested going this weekend on Vladeasa, which is a mountainous region 70 km away from Cluj. Its peak is 1836 m high and the whole circuit was about 20 km.
We started the circuit in Rogojelu, a little picturesque village and climbed towards Vladeasa tourist lodge on some steep hills, leaving the auburn and golden village behind.
An old lady who I am sure is in a better condition than me, just due to the fact that she lives in that region gave us some apples for the road. It was 10 in the morning and the next time we saw her again it was 6 in the afternoon when we descended from the pine grove area and an almost horizontal forester path.
Mihaela had some trekking poles which came in handy especially while climbing almost four-pawed an abrupt versant.
The only joy of it were the fields of cranberries from which we ate each time we stopped to grasp some air- and let em tell you that we've stopped quite often. My brother was trying to encourage us by counting 15 steps before a stop, but 10 sounded hellish to me and my tongue was out like the tongue of Rollo, the small dog accompanying us.
the cranberries
Was there time for photos? Of course there was.
The blue jacket one is my brother. And then it's me and me and his girlfriend, Mihaela.
Up, on the peek, there was even some snow....
And the night came. Trees were full of burning like leaves. Evening felt heavy and silent.
